Specification-first purchase decision
Bambu AMS HT vs AMS 2 Pro: heat or capacity?
AMS HT is a one-spool system built around an 85°C drying ceiling and an independent bypass outlet for soft, brittle, or some reinforced filaments. AMS 2 Pro holds four spools, dries up to 65°C, and is centered on multi-material automation and sealed storage.
Choose AMS HT when one demanding spool, an 85°C ceiling, or the bypass path is decisive. Choose AMS 2 Pro when four-spool automation and storage matter more than temperatures above 65°C. Bambu says P1/X1 owners need a switching adapter to power AMS 2 Pro drying.
Documented comparison
What each product is actually positioned to solve
One high-temperature or bypass-fed spool
Documented capability: One spool; up to 85°C; active vent; auto-rotation; sealed storage
Decision limit: One-spool capacity; confirm printer compatibility and the exact supported feed path.
Official AMS HT specification ↗Four-spool multi-material printing and storage
Documented capability: Four spools; up to 65°C; active vent; auto-rotation; sealed storage
Decision limit: Bambu excludes generic TPU and several CF/GF materials from the normal AMS feed path.
Official AMS 2 Pro specification ↗Three checks before buying
Use the constraint that changes the answer
Start with both the drying and feeding requirements.
A chamber may reach the drying target while its automated feed path remains unsuitable for that filament.
Do you need one demanding spool or four ordinary ones?
Paying for four bays does not add high-temperature capability; paying for 85°C does not add four-bay automation.
Include the required adapter in the P1/X1 plan.
Bambu's current AMS 2 Pro page states that P1 and X1 series owners need a switching adapter for its drying function.
Decision path
Resolve the purchase in this order
- 01Check the exact Bambu compatibility table.
Separate materials supported for drying from materials supported through the automated feeder.
- 02Set the highest required drying temperature.
A 65°C system cannot satisfy an 80°C or 85°C cycle merely by running longer unless the filament maker explicitly permits it.
- 03Price the complete workflow.
Include adapters, hubs, bypass routing, and the number of AMS units—not just the headline unit.
