For P1/X1 owners, budget for AMS 2 Pro's drying power adapter; neither model should be bought on the assumption that it can automatically feed and heat-dry the same spool on every printer.

Both units support the printer connections below with the appropriate accessories and firmware. The power column is for AMS 2 Pro; every AMS HT instead needs its own included mains cord. Check which buffer and cables your existing bundle already includes.

Drying is not the same as feeding
Can you dry while printing? There are three different cases.
Pre-dry a wet spool using its full prescribed cycle. Heat applied during a print may be reduced to protect loaded filament and is not automatically an equivalent drying cycle.
Automatic feeding from a heated AMS: Bambu's drying guide lists H2D (01.03.00.00+), H2S and P2S (01.02.00.00+), and X2D and A2L (01.01.00.00+) for simultaneous drying and printing. It lists P1S, P1P, X1C, A1 and A1 mini as not supported for this mode. The system may lower the temperature when printing starts; do not assume 65°C or 85°C is maintained.
Printing from another spool or AMS: An idle unit drying separately is a different workflow from the unit actively feeding the print. Check the printer's power restrictions and the required adapters before planning parallel jobs.
AMS HT manual bypass: The bypass avoids automatic feeding and retraction. Bambu's drying wiki describes heated bypass feeding as available across printer models, but the AMS HT store FAQ also warns about drying when initiating a bypass-fed print. These instructions conflict. Confirm the exact sequence and firmware with Bambu before buying specifically for continuous heated bypass use.

Use the constraint that changes the answer
Start with both the drying and feeding requirements.
A chamber may reach the drying target while its automated feed path remains unsuitable for that filament.
Do you need one demanding spool or four ordinary ones?
Paying for four bays does not add high-temperature capability; paying for 85°C does not add four-bay automation.
Include the required adapter in the P1/X1 plan.
Bambu's current AMS 2 Pro page states that P1 and X1 series owners need a switching adapter for its drying function.
