PPA-CF drying temperature: why 85°C dryers fall short

PPA-CF sits outside the capability of ordinary 65–85°C filament dryers in the two official examples reviewed here. Bambu Lab specifies 100–140°C in a blast drying oven, while Creality lists 100–120°C for its PPA-CF family guidance.

A 110°C dryer covers only the lower portion of the cited requirements. It can be considered only when the exact purchased filament and approved method specify 110°C or less. It cannot satisfy Bambu's 140°C upper instruction or Creality's 120°C upper instruction by specification alone.

What temperature should PPA-CF be dried at?

Use the purchased product's current instruction. Bambu PPA-CF specifies 100–140°C for 8–12 hours in a blast drying oven; Creality's family guide lists 100–120°C for 8–12 hours.

Can an 85°C filament dryer dry PPA-CF?

Not for either cited requirement. An 85°C ceiling is at least 15°C below the lower bound of both official examples.

Is a 110°C dryer enough for PPA-CF?

Only for an exact approved cycle at or below 110°C. It covers part—not all—of the cited 100–120°C and 100–140°C ranges.

A maximum is a rejection screen, not a performance test. It does not prove chamber uniformity, recovery time, sensor accuracy, or the temperature at the center of a loaded spool.

A filament dryer, blast oven, and printer heatbed have different airflow, control, and effectiveness.

Spool

Confirm high-temperature reel safety.

Bambu explicitly attaches a spool-damage warning to its upper drying range.

During print

Maintain the required low humidity.

Bambu specifies less than 20% RH for printing and storage; recovering the spool is only the first stage.
